Hello Mr. Sydney Australia!

Highlights thus far:

-(Darklight) --as in yes... this was a bad moment: not one but TWO leashed children in the LAX airport. THEY'RE NOT PETS PEOPLE! Giving your child a furry backpack with a leash doesn't make it cute. And get real- we know you can't carry anything in those so-called "backpacks." Terrible...

-LAX waiting for 7 hours for my flight to Australia: Met a new friend named Kim... MALE friend that is! Told me everything I needed to know...

-VAustralia plane trip: watching 3 [good] movies, listening to [good] music (all provided by the touch-screen in front of me!) and playing an unlimited amount of tetris and bejeweled. The new friend next to me (also on the same trip/with the same group as me) tried to challenge me and say he was going to bejewel the shit out of me (take it for face value) and alas, I still beat him by a couple thousand points.

P.S. The plane looked like the inside of a club.

-Telling the Australian customs man that I didn't know what I was doing. He called me a "blog." Unfortunately, that's what you are, Mr. Blog. So, I come to this conclusion: were blogs invented by Australians in an attempt to make Americans look silly? ("Oh, look at that ole bloke, bloggin away"---"Yes, I'm a blogger") Think about it.

Blog = someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Other words that I'm learning:

Cuddle = hug
Notes = bills
Brekke = breakfast (they abbreviate everything!)
Jumper = sweatshirt

I am on to continue conquering.

P.P.S. Thank you, Mr. Duffel Bag for not losing anything and for making your way back into my arms in Sydney!! If only you had wheels...

Dear Mr. Duffel Bag...

I know we just met today, the day before my trip. Even though we haven't known each other for that long, please... PLEASE. Don't lose my shit, don't talk to strangers, and don't find yourself lost.

Just remember what Eddie Murphy says in Bowfinger... "K.I.T.... Keep it together man." KIT KIT KIT KIT

I spent a lot of time buying stuff to fill you with, and I'm hoping you'll be kind enough to bring those things to Australia for me. That would be great, thanks.

If you help me carry my stuff to Aussie-town, I promise I'll use you again in the future.

Thanks for understanding. I'll see you in Sydney.

Aurora

P.S. You're about to get on a really long plane ride. Don't be alarmed at the unfamiliar accents you hear.

Top 10 things that make me uncomfortable

Don't use this knowledge against me.

10. Styrofoam. Nails on the chalkboard for me.

9. Dirty Kitchens. Make me want to gag.

8. When people take out their retainers in the morning and don't rinse/brush them before they put them back in their retainer-keeper thingy. Gross.

7. Greasy hair. Just wash it.

6. Licking toes. Don't ask.

5. People touching my face. Don't grab my face. Please.

4. Large groups of men.

3. Being barefoot on tile. Especially wet tile. Bathrooms are difficult for me.

2. Squirrels/raccoons/rodents. Explains itself.

1. Leashed Children. Hence the name of the blog.

Uh oh

I've found something, and I don't think it's a good thing.

.....TWITTER.

I vowed I'd never give in.
I thought, as a Journalism student, I should know how to work it- it IS a social media, and more and more businesses are hiring people specifically to just... tweet.

Whether or not, this is just a fad or a "trending topic" or an addiction, I've succumbed to it.
However, it's probably a good thing I haven't turned into someone who tweets about everything I'm doing: "Bored at work..." -- "Sitting outside" -- "Sitting on the toilet" -- So far I'm using it as consistent news-feed.

I still don't even understand it.
But I've begun tweeting... I think.
I leave this question with you:

WHY DO THEY CALL IT A TWEET?! (WTF IS A TWITTER?!)

Ludacris is a con-artist

On March 9th, 2010, something huge happened. Ludacris came out with another album, Battle of the Sexes. I leave this thought with you: Was he not confident in his new album, that he had to be featured on everyone else's new singles?

Look at him. He's sneaky.
Every time I turn on the radio- Luda.
Every time I wake up, what's stuck in my head- Luda.
He's everywhere.

He's in the catchiest part of the newest songs on the radio.
I'm just going to put it out there:
Ludacris wanted to be on every.song.on.the.radio.
It worked.

Turn on your radio and become a believer!!!

Getting ready for Summer 2010

Here I go attempting to keep up with yet another social media!

I promise I'll try hard[er]!!!

Currently: In Fort Wayne right now appreciating family time and getting things for my 5 weeks in Australia in July.
My life runs on checklists so I'm going crazy trying to get everything ready and rewriting/organizing what I need and need to find. Work boots and a sleeping bag? This'll be fun! :)

I think my biggest challenge lies in the 5 weeks that I need to stuff into my backpack. Little miss 2 1/2 suitcases and 7 pairs of shoes is going to have to downsize!

First matter at hand:
Pit slits??!!?!

I found my jacket that I'll be living in when I go down under and it comes complete with... YES... pit slits. Probably the most ingenious invention ever and all it took was for someone to be too lazy to take their jacket off and take a pocket knife to it. "Oh hey, I'm too hot, but I don't want to take my jacket off because I'm sweaty and it's sticking to me, I'll just air out my armpits." Genius.

When I get to use my pit slits, I'll let you know how they fare. (Which will hopefully be really well.)
